June 14            Minnesota Quilt Conference, Rochester Workshop  Geese in Formation

Supplies: Basic Sewing Kit, Sewing Machine (extension cord?, Scissors (paper and fabric), Seam Ripper, Pins, Needles, Thread, Scotch Tape, Ruler, Cutter with Blades, Matt, Iron and Board, Pencil Mechanical, Note Paper, Rubber Eraser, 4 Colored Pencils. Design Wall: Recommended.  Reducing Glass or Door Peephole: OPTIONAL    Fabric:  FOCUS FABRIC  (quilt picture shows 3 main sections featuring birds) 1 yard; ACCOMPANYING BACKGROUND FABRICS:  Quarter Yards (or scraps) - approximately 15.  FLYING GEESE  (accent color):  Quarter Yards (or scraps) - approximately 6 (or more).  SKY BEHIND GEESE:  Use Background Fabrics or bring more in a darker shade.  STRIPS:  Dark Accent   1/2 yard.   TO FINISH AT HOME:  Binding 1/4 yard, Batting 40" x 40"; Backing 40" x 40"; Backing 40" x 40", Beads, Embroidery or Heavy Thread for Running Stitch.  Quilt shows Focus Fabric in taupe; Additional Background pieces: taupe, tan, ecru; Strips: navy; Flying Geese: ochre, amber, salmon, gold; Sky Behind Geese: dark brown, taupe.  Adjust your choice of colors accordingly.

June 15            Minnesota Quilt Conference, Rochester Workshop Whimsical Triangles 2-day

Supplies:  Sewing Machine in working order (straight stitching for main quilt - zigzag applique stitch for border vine and flowers), Extension Cord?, Iron and Board, Thread, Scissors (paper and fabric), Seam Ripper, Pins and Needles, Rotary Cutter and Blades, Matt, Ruler (6x24), Ruler Triangular 60-120 degree (Super 60 Sara Nephew), Pen and Paper for Notes, Fusible (such as Pellon Wonder Under) 2 yards, Stabilizer (or plain paper) 3 yards,  Design Wall (Highly Recommended.  Plastic baggies OPTIONAL, Post-it notes OPTIONAL  Fabric:  100% cotton is best. Unwashed cotton has sizing.  If you prewash, starch and iron your fabrics before coming to class.  Super 60 Triangular Ruler:  I will have for sale in class at $18.  Fun Fabrics:  Select a theme, such Food, Sports, Holiday, Animals, Flowers, etc. Quarter yards or more of lots of fun fabrics.,  Scraps of humorous fabrics, fabrics which feature your family activities, bizarre colors and patterns.  Border: 1 1/4 yard to complete at home  Batting: 54" x 56" to complete at home Backing:  54" x 56" to complete at home.   Speedy quilters might achieve some border work done at the workshop.

                        Log Cabin Three Way Workshop

Supplies: Sewing Machine (Extension cord?, Scissors (paper and fabric), Seam Ripper, Thread, Pins and Needles, Rotary Cutter and Blades, Ruler, Matt, Paper and Pencil, Scotch Tape, Iron and Board for every 3 people. Design Wall OPTIONAL, Reducing glass or Motel Peephole for viewing OPTIONAL.  Fabrics:  100% cotton. Unwashed fabrics have sizing. If you prefer to wash your fabrics, please have them starched and ironed before you come to class. BACKGROUND: 2 1/2 yards (or more)  CARD TRICK: 16 shades or patterns of one color. Each color needs 2 strips  1 1/4" x 42". If you prefer fewer shades such as 8 shades, then you need 4 strips of each 1 1/4" x 42". Precut if you wish. Background fabric precutting from above yardage for Card Trick: 9 strips 1/1 4: x 42.  ZIG ZAG: 8 shades or patterns of one color (4 lighter and 4 darker). Each color needs 2 strips, 1 1/4" x 42". Precut if you wish. Background fabric precutting from above yardage for Zig Zag: 8 strips 1 1/4" x 42". TRIANGLES: 18 shades or patterns of one color - 2 1/4" (or 2 1/2") x 42" of each one. These are paper pieced. You may precut strips or you may wish to wait for class. Bringing ADDITIONAL strips for paper piecing is often advisable. Background precutting from above yardage for Triangles: 6 strips 2 1/4" (or 2 1/2") x 42". You may precut strips or you may wish to wait for class. If you are using fat quarters, adjust the number of strips accordingly. BORDER 3: 1 1/2 yards (8" border). BINDING: 1/2 yard (cut 2 1/2" strips straight of grain). Borders and Binding not needed for workshop.

July 13            Quilt Colorado Workshop:  Graceful Flight

Supplies: Basic Sewing Kit, Scissors (paper and fabric), Seam Ripper, Pins, Needles, Sewing Machine (extension cord?), Thread, Scotch Tape, Ruler Cutter with Blades, Matt, Iron and Board (mini irons are handy), Freezer Paper, Pen fine-line, Pencil Mechanical, Rubber or Soap Eraser, Masking Tape. Design Wall: OPTIONAL   Reducing Glass or Door Peephole OPTIONAL.  Flexible Curve or ruler OPTIONAL.  Fabric:  BACKGROUND: 1 1/2 yards or up to 2 yards dyed fabric. This could be any muted, dyed or blotchy fabric or a scenic print. FLYING GEESE: Fabric scraps or small yardage which would blend (or contrast) with surrounding dyed fabric. SKY BEHIND GEESE:  1 yard of a fabric which contrasts with the geese. This may or may not blend with the background. BORDER: Your choice whether to include. This will add immensely to your art piece and can be as wide as you wish. Or you may desire to create an inner boarder and then add more of your background fabric. 

July 14            Quilt Colorado Workshop:  Waltzing Nine Patch

Supplies: Basic Sewing Kit, Scissors (paper and scissors), Seam Ripper, Pins, Needles, Sewing Machine in working order (extension cord?) with zipper foot or cording foot; Thread in medium shade, Ruler (6x24) or other: Matt; Cutter and Blades - 45mm or y60-- for large long cuts, also 26mm or 18mm for cutting curves  Iron and Board (miniature irons are great). Design Wall OPTIONAL.  Reducing Glass or Door Peephole OPTIONAL.   Fabrics:   50  6 1/2" squares.  A variety of colors makes for a more interesting piece.  Batiks are the best because of their dense weave. Avoid flannel, lame' and homespuns.  Sashing: 1/2 yard.  Corner Sashing 1/4 yard if different. Or could be same as Border.  Border and Binding: 2 yards. Border Waltzing Squares: 1/3 yard. Fusible: 1 yard MistyFuse or Steam-a-seam or Pellon Wonder Under. Old fusible such as wonder-under which may have "separated" is great also. Piping Fabric:  1/4 yard or could be same as Sashing. Border: 6 yards of 1 mm polyester drapery cording. Instructor will have for sale: 6 1/2" coordinated batik sets; cording; and fusible OPTIONAL
